BeardMe App

Written by SHUJA | 12:11:00 PM | , | 0 comments »

Chris Auyeung and Vijay Mathews, the makers of the BeardMe iPhone App (iTunes link) believe everyone has the right to luxuriant, well-groomed facial hair. BeardMe gives people the chance to put really well-designed, old timey, classy beards and mustaches on themselves and everyone they know. Because really who doesn’t love a Daniel Day-Lewis in “Gangs of New York” mustache on babies or coworkers or pets?! Plus, there really is something about a nice beard or mustache that adds a certain I don’t know what to one’s personality and general outlook on life.

FaceTime is coming soon to both Mac OS X and Windows. This is one of those unusual rumors that both makes sense and is questionable at the same time. The possibility of this mobile video chat client coming soon to Mac OS X is strong. Apple introduced FaceTime with the iPhone 4 and extended it to the iPod touch when the 4th generation portable media device launched last week. Rumors also suggest that the next generation iPad will add a camera and bring this mobile video chat client to yet another device.

Apple recently released the iOS4 firmware update for the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch users. Users updated to the new firmware anticipating new features and improved performance.  For some of them the  opposite occurred, especially for iPhone 3G owners. Most of the iPhone 3G users are reporting very slow performance and applications crashing. The main cause of this problem is the slow processor and the low amount of RAM in the iPhone 3G.

Written by SHUJA | 1:31:00 PM | , | 0 comments »

Apple busted into the tablet market with the iPad and now the competitors readying their offerings. Bloomberg is the latest to report that BlackBerry maker RIM is working on a tablet many believe will be called the "Blackpad."

Naturally, details are scarce, but the device is said to have roughly the same dimensions as the iPad, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and some sort of tethering option that would allow users to tap into their BlackBerry smartphones to connect to the Internet.

Apple has released a security patch to block hackers from gaining access to any iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad running the latest versions of their mobile operating system. That's the good news. The bad: Users who have jailbroken their devices, hacking them in a legal but warranty-busting move to run unauthorized apps, will lose access to the unauthorized content.
Anyone who wants to jailbreak after updating will likely have a harder time of it, too, until hackers devise the next jailbreak technique.

This isn't going to do you iPhone 4 types much good yet, but it's interesting to note that the current version of redsn0w apparently works like a champ for jailbreaking your old iPhone 3G (yes -- 3G -- not 3GS) along with second-generation iPod touches running iOS 4.0.2.
