Sony's pocket-sized PSP Go is finally out in the UK this week, with SCE ditching the unpopular UMD disc format in preference of digital downloaded games from its online store.
And while Sony has come under fire for not making the entire PSP back catalogue available to PSP Go gamers, the new machine is certainly a looker and has the huge advantage over its bigger, older brethren in the PSP family in that it pretty much fits in most pockets.
And yet while some traditional retailers bemoan the fact that they cannot make money from downloads and that small (yet vocal) hardcore PSP gaming community mocks the fact that their favourite games are still only available on physical discs, Sony is sure to make a splash in the run-up to the busy Christmas gift-buying season with the new PSP Go.
Sony's Claire Backhouse, Product Manager for PSP in the UK is quick to point out the differences between the new PSP Go and PS3 Slim, telling GamesIndustry.biz: "The Slim is actually taking over from the old PS3, whereas with PSP Go we're not taking over from the PSP 3000, it's very much a console that's going to sit alongside the PSP 3000."
Movies, Facebook, Skype
Sony is aiming to take a slice of the older gaming market, those, "16-34 year olds... like iPhone users who watch films and want high quality downloadable games on the go... that suit their lifestyle."
As for non-games download plans for the PSP Go, the Sony exec admits that, while at launch they are "very much focusing on the gaming part of it... in the next couple of months you'll get other people that are interested in just general entertainment and things like Skyping - you can Skype on the console really easily - and going on the net, checking Facebook, that sort of thing".
Perhaps, most controversially, while she admits that Apple's iPhone has opened up the casual "social gaming on the go market" Backhouse thinks that "PSP Go is... even better than an iPhone" when you consider the range of gaming and entertainment services on offer.
A bold claim indeed and one which only time and the ever-changing whims of the mass market consumer while bear out.
Sony says PSP Go is much better than iPhone

Both Microsoft and Apple just recently launched there latest and upgraded versions of Media players but now people are confused which one to buy so i am writing this post to tell you which one is good in what?
First come to the appearance of Zune HD. Zune HD got aluminum back and is a slim gadget which makes it hot as well as it's screen size is 3.3 inch with 480 x 272 px of resolution. It also have multi touch screen with built in accelerometer. It's a pocket friendly Media Player with LED Glass covered display. It weighs about 74 grams.
On the other hand Apple iPod Touch 3G version is also slim but the negative point which makes it less sexy than Zune is that it's back gets finger print scratches. It's screen size is 3.5 inch which makes it better to display than Zune HD also it's resolutions are 480 x 320 px which again makes a point again Zune HD. Like Zune it also have multi touch screen with accelerometer, sleep/wakeup button, volume rocker button and Home button. It weighs about 115 grams which is a negative point against Zune and it seems to be heavy like iPhone 2g.
Now the Second thing to check is navigation, and simplicity to explore different apps. Zune HD has a Media Touch Screen button on it's right which when pressed opens the music player short keys. It is less user interactive in compared to iPod Touch because you have you slide every app on the home screen.
Apple iPod Touch have a large screen that make it better to navigate. Apps are easy to explore because they can be set on home screen. iPod have volume control button on it's side and another volume control button on the handsfree.
Microsoft Zune HD has high quality sound and built in Radio. You can watch and listen to Radio on TV with an additional add on. Microsoft Zune does not have any app and offical tell it won't have any later neither it has an app store like iPod's.
In compare with Zune HD iPod Touch does not have much good sound quality and also does not have Radio Tuner installed in it. (I don't know if there is any app regarding that.) But the thing that make it more superior is the iTunes from where you can download any app for your iPod and also download music from App store.
Zune HD comes just only in two options for memory 16GB and 32GB flash memory, it also supports Wi-Fi and has a CPU of Nvida Tegra APX with two ARM 11 Processors and 6 other cores for other tasks like video, audio etc. It too have built in rechargable lithium battery with up to 33 hours of audio playback and 8.5 hours of video playback.
iPod Touch comes in 3 options for flash memory 8GB, 32GB and 64GB flash memory. It also have Wi-Fi and CPU of 600 MHz. It also comes with PowerVR SGX GPU. It also have built in rechargable and non removable lithium battery with up to 6 hours of video playback and 32 hours of audio playback.
At the end the results are in favour of iPod Touch 3g because the company has made a place for camera but haven't installed it yet. It can be installed by hacking the iPod Touch. iPod Touch provides the ultimate features that no other media player provides and most of all it is a pocket pc.

Both PS3 and Xbox 360 come from two major brand names who are indisputable leaders in their own fields. Deciding and choosing one of them over another would be a biased act if you don’t know about your need and as both of them has their pros and cons. Let us discuss the most important factors that makes them different.
1. Availability and exclusiveness of games
Both systems have a wide variety of wonderful games and most major games are found on both platforms. As for statistics, there are 303 playstation games on realease of which 99 games are exclusive, ad for Xbox there are 587 games of which 383 games are exclusive. This suggests that there are more exclusive games in Xbox 360 than in ps3. But I think the exclusive games on PS3 like the Metal Gear Solid 4, God Of War III, LittleBigPlanet are simply superb. If you want to know about games on Xbox, read our article on top 10 games of 2009 for Xbox.
2. Graphics
Here are 3 snapshots taken while playing game of Fallout 3 on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. You can easily see that the pictures taken using the PC outdoes both of the playstation 3 and xbox 360. But I could hardly find any difference between them. See if you can find any difference or not.

As for gaming experience they both offer nearly same thrill and entertainment.

3. Online Gaming
The online store and gaming is amazing for Xbox 360. Though they are developing stores for playstation 3, it is nothing compared to game playing experience on xbox live.
4. Optical Drive
PS3 is the only gaming console that offers a high quality Blu-Ray Player. On the other hand Microsoft being the supporter HD DVDs, without any surprise they have implemented them in their Xbox. But without going into technical details we can say that, Blu-Ray player is more useful than the HD DVDs as the Blu-Ray format is being accepted by most of movie producers. To watch a Blu-Ray movie you don’t have to buy a separate Blu-Ray Player, your playstation 3 will be more than enough. Also you can play Blu-Ray games which means you need less number of disks to play a game.
5. Controllers
The controllers come with regular AA’s and you can buy the battery pack later, which I like because you can just swap out when it dies or plug in and recharge. There are some controllers like steering wheel or wireless controllers which provides a better gaming experience. On Playstation 3 the Bluetooth connection for controllers sometimes provide very bad synchronization.
6. Price
To be flat and straight, PS3 is more expensive than the 360. The price is too much for a gaming console. But if you keep in mind about the fact that it comes with a Blu-Ray player and free online game playing capability, the product seems to be providing the value for money.
7. Overheating
The Xbox has been notorious for its overheating and malfunctioning. The Red Ring of Death is now a less frequent phenomena with their newer chips but Playstation 3 is a better choice when it comes to reliability of its hardware. To know more read our article on Xbox 360 problems.
8. Aesthetics
Everyone (except the Microsoft fanatics) will agree to me that playstation 3 looks far better than xbox 360. The disk drive over the GPU makes it look horribly bad.
9. Power Consumption
The Xbox consumes far more power than the PS3. See our article Xbox 360 is an energy Hog to know more about it.
10. Other Multimedia Features
PS3 comes with card readers for not just Sony’s Memory Stick, but the more popular SD and CompactFlash as well. You can move photos from memory card to hard drive and back to memory card. I have never seen a device scroll through high-resolution photos faster than the PS3. It even renders your photos in realtime into a 3D animated slideshow, if you so desire. On the other hand, team Xbox knows about your music collection. If the Xbox 360 is connected to your home network (via Ethernet or a $100 Wi-Fi accessory), you can quickly pull up tracks from PCs around the house.
