Instead of relying on expensive phone calls, why not settle for video calls over the computer? With the advent of VoIP software such as Skype, communications has gotten a whole lot easier, cheaper and convenient. Webcams have been an indispensable tool in this area, and Microsoft hopes to add some polish to this peripheral market with their latest LifeCam Studio webcam which will usher in the High Definition era.

Google plans to destory Facebook, with Facebook's help
Written by SHUJA | 5:19:00 AM | Gadgets, News | 0 comments »It's no secret that Google has been planning a social network of its own, but now CEO Eric Schmidt is talking more frankly about it. What do we know right now? It could be called Google Me, appear as early as this fall, and Google is hoping Facebook well aid in its own destruction.
At the Google Zeitgeist conference this week in Arizon, Schmidt himself very casually proposed the following scenario: "The best thing that would happen is for Facebook to open up its data," adding that even if the social network didn't do that for Google, the company had other plans in place.

Some of these things are done with the greatest of ease, as is demonstrated by those commercials that show a guy on a phone call who is also texting, looking up movie times, finding a restaurant, and probably playing Minesweeper. Heck, the iPhone is so magical it's probably talking to someone on the other line and keeping them entertained while he's helping his hapless movie buddy.

Nissan and the Yokohama plan to offer an iPhone application that's to encourage local residents to drive more efficiently, hoping to help them save gas and go easy on the environment.
The iPhone eco-driving app links to the car over a Wi-Fi connection and monitors the acceleration, cruising speed and deceleration of the vehicle. The data is then uploaded to a central server, where it's compared to optimal driving profiles to rate the user's driving on a scale from one to five. The app also gives the user an overall score that rates how environmentally friendly their driving is.
The eco-driving application monitors the car's speed, it's just an approximate measure of fuel consumption. But the data is still good enough to give users a general idea of how their driving stacks up, he said.
